Are you an activist in Bangalore working on issues related to media/telecommunications access and control, free and open source software, online censorship and surveillance, copyright and other intellectual property, or the UID scheme? If you have time before April 27th, I’d like to ask you more about your work.
There’s a considerable body of research looking at how activists use digital technologies. What I’m interested in is seeing how activists are trying to reshape the technologies themselves; how activists are trying to take or retain control of the software we use, online communications, and other media infrastructure. I’m also interested in how activists are resisting the increased power of surveillance afforded to governments by digital technologies.
If you’re willing to talk to me or would like to know more about my research, you can contact me at scroeser at gmail dot com, by leaving a comment here, or on Twitter. Please feel free to pass this request on to anyone who might be interested.
I do know one person who deals with such cases. May I know the reason.
As I said in the post, I’m interested in understanding more about activism around these issues. However, I am no longer in Bangalore at the moment.
